The Future of the Internet: Lawrence Lessig, Joichi Ito and Phil Rosedale
By Tom Foremski - July 28, 2008
The best panel (by far) I saw at Fortune Brainstorm was "2018: Life on the Net." It was moderated extremely well by Quincy Smith, CEO of CBS Interactive. On the podium was Lawrence Lessig, professor of Law at Stanford Law School, Joichi Ito, CEO of Creative Commons and Chairman of Six Apart Japan, and Philip Rosedale, founder and chairman of Linden Lab, (Second Life.)
I've edited the video down to the best comments.
Hear Lawrence Lessig talk about the new "patriot act" that the government has ready and will be applied to the Internet following a 911 type event affecting the web: an "iPatriot Act.

As an internet law attorney, I found this discussion fascinating. Mr. Lessig is a true leader and sage when it comes to the convergence of the internet and traditional legal principles of privacy and intellectual property ownership.

"So, in other words, government is PLANNING some kind of "911" event affecting the internet so they can rape it as well."
